| I have a 62 mercury meteor with 14" rims. Each conversion kit found so far requires 15"+ rims. I would like to keep the stock hubcaps. Are there rims to accommodate the hubcaps or 14" disc brake rims? If not, would the stock drums with a power brake master cylinder be safe? I had the brakes fail due to a failed wheel cylinder and I like to stop. How bad is an all drum system?

A good working drum system is fine for normal driving. Consider upgrading to a dual master cylinder set up for drum brakes. I did this to my 65 Catalina. Use a master cylinder and line splitter from a similar size and weight car. A late 60's early 70's Mustang would work for you and be easy to get.

| I did a disc conversion on my '64 Merc Monterey, and I still run the 14" wheels and hub caps. You need the "Granada conversion" -- I bought mine from Brake Tech Solutions. I highly recommend BTS' kits-everything arrives pre-assembled and ready to go. It's a snap to install, I didnt' have to adjust/engineer/customize ANYTHING. It was truly a bolt-in application. You can use 14" wheels if you search the salvage yards for 1976-80 Granada, Monarch or Maverick wheels. I think this is a "Type D" wheel. I found mine for $20 each. bingo!

| you will need to have disc brake rims, your stock rims won't clear the calipers. call the folks at MasterPowerBrakes 1.888.351.8785, they are a bunch of know it alls when it comes to conversions.
