I'm looking for a method or source to reapply the chrome edge on the perimeter of my Firebird dashboard. Some people paint it silver, but I am looking for an authentic appearance. Any advice?

Thanks

The chrome on the edge is called "plastic chrome" and there are a few places around which can rechome plastic.  However, it involves removing all the older plastic chrome, paint, etc. from your bezel.  They then perform the plastic chrome process over the entire bezel.  Then they will mask off and paint the remainder of your bezel to leave a very thin rim of plastic chrome around the outside.

I think you can get the supplies now and do this yourself from either Eastwood or Caswell, which are both very good companies to order restoration supplies from.

Here is a link to a place in Fort Worth, TX which does plastic chrome.  I don't know anything about them myself but saw them mentioned in an auto restoration magazine.  I think there are even prices mentioned for plastic rechrome.

Here is another link to a plastic chrome company which might give you some ideas.

I used cvvacuumplaters.  I can recommend them.  They do have quite a backlog, so best to have it done during the off season, or find another bezel to use temporarily.
