| I recently purchased a 1955 Ford Victoria and was really surprised how the older cars were so hard to steer. I am considering adding power steering to it. Does anyone out there have a clue as to how much this would cost to do? Would appreciate ANY reply.

| if your steering and suspension parts are in good shape and properly adjusted, it shouldn't be THAT hard. it won't steer like your modern rack-n-pinion cars, but you can easily one-hand it around town. I have a '64 Merc with manual steering and the only time I wish for power is trying to parallel park while holding a cup of coffee. take a look at http://www.p-s-t.com/ (Performance Suspension Technologies) for complete steering replacement kits. I spent about $200 for a full set of tie rod ends, ball joints, A-arm bushings, sway bar bushings, idler arm bushings, etc. etc. for my Merc. It made an ENORMOUS difference in how my Merc steers and handles. but if you have your heart set on it, look at http://www.ndgearheadscruiserproducts.com/id21.htm for Saginaw-type steering conversion. You might want to do some research on this vendor. I think I've seen discussion board topics about issues with the Saginaw 605 on other forums (try searching webrodder.com)
